After a delicious dinner filled with fresh pineapple margaritas at the El Chile on Barton Springs, Chris, Sheridan, Jamie Lee, Thomas and I decided to head just a few hops down the road to the legendary Peter Pan Mini Golf.
Open since 1946, the place has been around, and we wanted to check it out! I went when I was in elementary school, but was eager to experience Peter Pan now that I’m old enough to utilize its oh-so fabulous BYOB policy. With its retro vibe and chill attitude, we couldn’t wait. However, when we went to pay for our game, we were told that the place is cash only and no glass
allowed. We had just bought some beer bottles, so this sucked! Unfortunately, the place only has two rules, and we weren’t aware of either. Somehow, we scrounged up enough cash and Thomas and Jamie had brought canned alcoholic cider, so all turned out to be okay.
Peter Pan Mini Golf has two different eighteen hole courses, and one is supposedly much harder. We opted for the “easy” one, but don’t let anyone fool you, it was still a challenge. But fun! The place is full of an array of giant characters and silly obstacles, making the experience even more entertaining.
As we laughed between putts, we enjoyed the nice fall breeze entering into town to blow out the summer heat. However, the summer put up a fight, as the evening heat pressed on and eventually the breeze left us with nothing but glimmers of sweat.
Still – what a great night! Costing only six bucks per person, Peter Pan Mini Golf is a fun, cheap way to spend time with friends. And way to go, Thomas, who ended up beating the rest of us, with Chris coming in at a fierce second. But as the boys were joking, “if you ain’t first, you last!”

This place is great. I went just the other day, and I had to blog about it. I would definitely suggest Peter Pan Mini-Golf to anyone. http://www.activeatx.com/2011/09/some-good-old-family-competition-at-peter-pan-mini-golf/
